Flipping Over Oedo City

Talking is fun. SPC is too, so putting the two together seems most natural. This is where I talk randomly about things related to SPC, in a "look what I found" manner, kind of like a blog. But not.

Famicom Fun

A rather unconventional "review" of the KNT videogame.

"Movie" Madness
6/06/03

Any of you SPC fans that didn't just come across the series yesterday probably know what the title refers to. Samurai Pizza Cats: "The Movie," and your's truly has finally attained it. Okay, so it's not anything to write home about, as it's probably the easiest SPC product to find, but let's pretend otherwise, if not just for today (robley likes feeling important). Anyway, as all of you can probably guess, this was a good day for me. Not only was it the last day of school, but I got to see SPC on an actual TV screen for the first time in six years. Being so used to the pixelly (did I just make up a word?) faded color-ness (there I go again) of all the DivX/RM rips circulating around the internet, the quality of the video seemed mind blowingly good, despite the fact its over 10 years old, and was recorded in EP format. It was almost overwhelming. It seemed like, I dunno, nirvana. No, wait. That makes me sound like a creep. It was just really cool, and it made me happy. More than just happy. I was the happy. You can take that any way you feel appropriate.

KNT on DVD?
5/31/03

The day we've all been waiting for? KNT, the original Japanese version of SPC, to be brought to DVD? ...Maybe. Recently someone named "Hello Millie" has contacted the alt.tv.pizzacats news group claiming to be the translator for Tenmei Animation (or Millenium Anime) saying they're looking for tapes of the Japanese episodes. With them, they plan to subtitle and restore them to DVD. After which, they will undoubtedly try to sell them. Now, this brings up a few questions. If they were a legit company bringing official releases, shouldn't they be contacting Saban/ABC or Tatsunoko Productions for them? Wouldn't they want those intstead of the fans' old x-generation generally low quality tapes? Not to mention, out of curiosity, I decided to do a google search for info on the the company, and found jack, which isn't a good sign. *shakes head* Oh well, I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much, as if they succeed, the DVDs would be priceless to the SPC communitity, and finally provide a way to see the entire original series, TRANSLATED. Anyway, if you want to get involved, or are looking for a way to make some cash, she says she's offering $90 per official japanese tape, and $15 for a TV sourced episode. Just remember, she's looking for the Japanese KNT episodes, not the English SPC ones, so don't go trying to sell your old UPN tapes.

Big thanks to Isslark for pointing this out to me!

I.G. my B.L.
5/24/03

The I.G.B.L. (Infantry Gravball League), some sort of online sport that takes itself rather seriously, has it's own team named after everyone's favorite cats. That's right, the Samurai Pizza Cats team. Consisting of a 24 member team, and led by Beelzebub, these cats currently hold the third place spot, with 6 wins and 2 losses this season (though these stats could have changed by the time you read this). They've one four awards since their introduction in May 0f 2001, so they're probably pretty good. I'm not really sure what this sport is about, but it's pretty interesting that something like this is actually going on.

Identity Crisis

When browsing the web a couple days ago, I ran into one of those "which character are you?" quizes, this one pertaining to Samurai Pizza Cats. Like most of these quizes, it was obvious to any fan of the show who each answer represented, and surprise, surprise, I ended up getting Fran. If you'd like to take the quiz yourself, you'll find the link below.

Which cat are you?
